In this day and age, people who are truly honest and kind, can be seen as an endangered species - especially in the world of auto repairs. They are definitely a rare sight.I have a 13 year old car that is slowly but surely reaching its 'sunset' time, and each time something doesn't work I just hold my breath that it's not major, that I can hold out for just a little longer until I have enough saved up for a new car.Well last night my engine wouldn't turn, the check engine light came on, battery and oil lights came on, and all 3 stayed on. AAA tested the battery and alternator, both were in great shape, so they thought it might be the fuel pump, which to replace would run probably around $750-$900.I got towed to North Hollywood Auto Repair, and what do you know? When it arrived the car miraculously revived, started and ran perfectly. No indicator lights. I was both relieved and pissed off at the same time - because I 'wasted' a tow and had to take a day off work to deal with this, but was also glad that this wasn't the day I've been dreading, where I either have to clean out my non-existent savings to repair a car that will only need more and more from me - or lock myself into years of payments for a new car.Since I was already at the shop, Saeed kindly offered to take a look at it. It was very difficult to try to diagnose the problem when the symptoms were no longer there. But he saw how distressed I was and said I could leave the car, they'll try driving it throughout the day and see if the issues will resurface so they can address it. They gave me a ride home and kept the car to take a look. Then before close of business, I got another call saying everything seems fine with my car, and was I ready to be picked up?Saeed explained because there was nothing wrong that they could see today, there isn't anything they can do, and he didn't want to just go ahead and replace the fuel pump, which is really expensive, if he can't see any issues. He thought maybe the brushes/fans (??I can't really remember what he called them) didn't connect up, and perhaps during the tow, with all the jostling of the car they may have reconnected on their own. In any case because the symptoms didn't resurface, there's no way to tell for sure, and he didn't want to proceed with a major repair like that.In the meantime they had given me rides, twice and charged me NOTHING for their time and efforts trying to see if there is indeed something wrong with my car. They wouldn't even take a tip.I was so moved by them that I needed to write this. I guess it's not really a review of repair services since I didn't get any actual repairs done, but I wanted to share this rare find of a honest auto repair place that actually cares about you as a person!!! I couldn't believe the level of service I got without any actual money transactions - and they could have definitely like any other place might, just taken advantage of someone who doesn't know anything about cars, and said oh yeah it's the fuel pump, it may run now but you don't want to break down in the middle of the freeway tomorrow etc (the usual scare tactics) and taken me for close to a grand. But instead they were honest and kind and went above and beyond to take care of someone who was not yet even a customer.Well, I just want to say, I am very impressed and they have earned a new customer for sure - I am DEFINITELY coming back to Saeed next time I am in need of auto repair - which I hope will not be soon, but know that it probably will be due to the old age of my car.Thank you NHAR/ Saeed for restoring my faith in humanity!!!!
